Review: Laneige's White Dew Original Ampoule Essence

Review: Laneige's White Dew Original Ampoule Essence

So Laneige has recently launched a new White Dew series and today, I'm looking at the White Dew Original Ampoule Essence.

Clinical trials of people who have used the product for 4 consecutive weeks shared that about 80 to 90% of them experience no more flaky dead skin cells and that skin texture has improved to feel more soft and moisturised.

I tested the product and it was really watery in texture, great for Singapore's humid weather. Also, within seconds, it fully absorbed into my skin and left it feeling really soft and moisturised.

The softness effect lasted at least 2 hours after absorption - this is without any makeup added onto skin yet.

As you know, I have combination skin. But I'm really getting good vibes about this product because the moisturising and skin softness effect was kind of immediate. No known sensitivities to the product occurred after 1 day of the product application as well.

The bottle resembles the White Plus Renew series - targeted at those who are going for the whitening effect. I almost got confused and thought they were part of the same series.

Well, even as it looks similar, this 'White Dew' line contains the patented whitening ingredient known as the Saururus chinensis Extract. This is in fact, similar to the White Plus Renew series, just that in the 'White Dew' line, they have improved its formula slightly to use Phyto Sugar water instead of the green tea water extracts in the White Plus Renew line.

For now, it seems like the 'White Dew' line is definitely looking good.

Using the patented Saururus chinensis Extract and new whitening technology, it is said to improves dark spots (brown spots, blemishes) and correct uneven skin tone. How it does this is that it tries to block "Melanin Bridge" with ingredients such as the saururus chinensis, truffle mushrooms, and vitamins.

The moisturising bit comes from the ingredient: Phyto Sugar Water, which makes skin moisturised and bright. To add on to the whitening effect, it also increases its whitening prowess by whitening skin with plant-derived extracts.

Not sure if you'd understand but this video from Laneige pretty explains most of it: their various layers add up to give the skin its much improved whitening formula.

I also managed to get the Tone-up Cream (20ml, full size is 50ml) with a sponge for easy application. The White Dew Tone Up Cream, meant to apply after the essence, hydrates skin and provides instant tone-up effect.

How to use the Essence?
1. Use at the step of essence as skincare in the morning and at night.
2. Dispense an appropriate amount on the cheeks and evenly spread over the entire face and on skin under the chin.
3. Gently press the face with the palms to promote absorption into skin.

One thing is to note though: this product is not suitable for those with eczema or dermatitis (on the face) and no application of product should go onto open wounds or injuries.

They have also completed hyper-allergy tests on this product and added in ingredients such as Panthenol and Beta-Glucan to relieve skin irritations. But as I always maintain: If unsure, please check with your dermatologist or do a skin patch test before using the product on your entire face.
