Zhup Zhup by One Prawn & Co: Local Comfort Food, Redefined

Zhup Zhup by One Prawn & Co: Local Comfort Food, Redefined

In July 2024, One Prawn & Co, recognized with a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2022 and 2023, has rebranded to Zhup Zhup by One Prawn & Co. The new concept focuses on serving local comfort food with a twist while maintaining its reputation for quality and flavor.

“Zhup Zhup” refers to the thick, hearty gravy central to many of their dishes and the sound of satisfaction when enjoying a meal. The name reflects their focus on creating dishes grounded in authentic local flavors.

Comfort Food with a Twist
Zhup Zhup takes comfort food to the next level with its attention to detail. Their GAO (thicc) prawn broth is a standout example, blending Penang prawn noodle soup and Japanese tonkotsu ramen broth. Each batch is made with 18 kilos of prawn heads and 30 kilos of pork bones, boiled for over 20 hours to create a rich, umami-packed broth.

From the sambal chili to the pork lard, every element is made in-house!

Watch my video review here:

TL;DR - Dishes to try
  • Lobster Paofan ($58): Full of flavor and perfect for sharing.
  • Seafood paofan: Comforting, robust and wonderful
  • Claypot Hokkien Mee ($14): Packed with wok-hei, river prawns, and scallops.
  • Dry Supreme Prawn Noodles ($20): Rich and satisfying.
  • Tasting Platter ($8.50): A great way to sample their offerings.

Zhup Zhup is located at 458 Macpherson Road, near Tai Seng MRT station. They are open Tuesday to Sunday, 11am to 9pm.

Whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor, their menu offers something special for everyone.

xoxo,
Janel
