A taste of Borneo, Sarawak at Jewel Changi: Kantin

A taste of Borneo, Sarawak at Jewel Changi: Kantin

Some of you might already know that Jewel Changi Airport is one of my favorite places to hangout. This time it surprised me with KANTIN—a culinary spot that brings the bold, rich flavors of Borneo right to our doorstep.

If you’re all about exploring unique eats, you might want to mark KANTIN down for a try.
It’s got everything from Sarawak Laksa to dishes like the Headhunter Pansuh Set (yup, as fierce as it sounds). Here are some highlights of my visit.

Sarawak Laksa: A hug in a bowl
Let’s kick off with the Sarawak Laksa. I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s like getting a warm hug from your bowl of soup. The broth? Light but full of that comforting laksa goodness, with just enough spice to keep things interesting. And don’t even think about skipping the lime and chili—trust me, it gives that extra oomph to every bite.
They also have a superdry version if you’re feeling fancy, I didn't get to try it this time round, but I'll get to it the next time I'm there.

Chicken Satay: Gone in seconds, I'll go for seconds
Moving on to the Chicken Satay - ya'll, I could’ve eaten a whole plate of this.
Grilled to perfection with a little hint of lemongrass, the satay is tender and juicy, with just the right amount of fat to keep things interesting. If you love satay, you’ll know what I mean when I say the char on the outside was just, woohoo, chef’s kiss.

Jungle Pasta: Smoky surprise
Now, this dish caught me off guard—in a good way! Jungle Pasta is basically Italian pesto with a Borneo twist, thanks to the smoky flavor of smoked duck. It’s one of those fusion dishes that actually works. The pesto is fresh and herb-y, and the duck adds this rich, earthy vibe that’s so unexpected but sooo good.
Coffee: A sweet finish
Of course, I had to try the coffee because, well, I’m a sucker for a good cup of joe. It was smooth and strong, but a little sweet for my taste. What I loved, though, was how you could taste the distinct layers—the coffee hits first, and then the creamy milk comes in like a perfect afterthought. A nice way to end the meal!
What I'll be back to try: Headhunter Pansuh Set
Okay, so I didn’t get to try the Headhunter Pansuh Set this time, but it’s on my to-eat list. It’s cooked in bamboo, which apparently locks in all the flavors and makes everything taste earthy and smoky.

Definitely coming back for that - and maybe to try the Rainforest Fried Rice too. There’s just so much more to explore on their menu.
Final Verdict?
All in all, I loved my time at KANTIN. It’s one of those places that offers a mix of authentic flavors with fun, creative spins, and I’m here for it.

Whether you’re in the mood for something comforting like Sarawak Laksa or want to try a unique fusion dish, KANTIN’s got you covered.

Definitely check it out if you’re coming to visit Jewel Changi Airport!
