Bangkok's most raved about creative market, Artbox, is finally in Singapore!
This local edition of Artbox will feature a wide arena of entrepreneurs eager to share their product, craft and even music.
Here are some of the photos I managed to take yesterday, though it was totally crazy crowded!
It was raining but people were still turning up, that's how much they wanted to visit Artbox. You don't really want to be one of those people in there when it's raining, so people, pray for good weather if you're heading there!
DBS Bank is the title sponsor for the event, bringing the iconic event to Marina Bay for the first time. Artbox Singapore will take place across two weekends (14 – 16 and 21 – 23 April) at Marina Bayfront.
Perks from title sponsor, DBS Bank:
- First 50 tertiary students (universities and polytechnics) per day to flash their student passes and DBS/POSB cards at the DBS Live Fresh zone will get a special Artbox Singapore tote bag
- All DBS/POSB cardmembers have access to the DBS Live Fresh zone – a super chill zone to hang out with your friends amidst the hustle and bustle
- DBS is also running a Facebook contest to give out Artbox goodie bags with over S$30 worth of items in each bag. For details, click here.
What You Can Expect:
Pros
- Over 300 international creative entrepreneurs across wide product categories including handcrafted bags, air hammocks and original wares on each weekend
- Stunning visual crowd-pullers including shipping containers and stunning fairy lights display
- An expected turnout of 400,000 people and a total event space of over 500,000 square feet during the two weekends
- Get to try authentic Thai eats
- Discover new brands, local and Thai
Cons
- HORDES OF PEOPLE
- Small spaces to move around
- Extremely long queues for food and drinks
- That not all stores are uniquely from Thailand
What you can do to survive this event:
- Bring your own water! It may be quite some time before you manage to get your food, and drinks!
- Please keep your bag light and don't bother bringing big bags. And definitely don't come here after you've shopped and are carrying your shopping bags! Nuh uh, that's the worse!
- Dress light - it was so humid and crowded, you don't want to be wrapped up like a dumpling.
- Don't bother bringing your cameras, you can't get any good shots anyway and you'll be sick holding your camera trying to snap photos. Just use your handphone if you need a picture.
- Bring a portable handheld fan, because you know - HOT.
- Bring a portable battery charger for your phone. I'm sure you'll have alot of time playing with your phone during the queue.
- If you're heading there with friends (woohoo!), either you stick closely together and queue together, keeping each other company... OR to maximise your time, split the group and queue at different food stalls. Gather together and then eat all the foods!!
- Bring tissues (wet and dry). Must I explain why?
Check out the crowds coming to and from MBS, people!
We queued a full hour before being able to get our Thai milk teas! The crowds were overwhelming and we were mad thirsty and tired by the time we finished queuing.
How we could still managed to smile, I have no idea. haha!
The photo turned out blur but yes I got my thai green milk tea and normal milk tea (yuan yang mix) so I definitely must show you guys!
