Century Square Mall Food Trail x AsiaMalls

Century Square Mall Food Trail x AsiaMalls

I was invited by AsiaMalls recently to attend a food trail at Century Square in Tampines!

Honestly, this mall has some really good food, which we were very blessed to try them out! We didn't try all eateries, but I definitely would go back to try the others.

Note: I'm just going to give you an overview on each eatery we went to, if not, this post will be very long! If you'd like to read the full review, I will put up the link of the individual eateries shortly, under each summary, when it's ready.

About the mall:

Century Square offers a bold approach in creating an inspiring shopping environment devoted to the needs and wants of her surrounding residents. Its 200,000 square feet covers 6 retail floors or 133 shops with 2 floors of basement parking. Century Square is also a forerunner of green measures in mall management. The mall encourages recycling by having recycling bins placed at strategic locations around the mall and also uses Newater for the irrigation of landscaped areas as part of its green efforts.

Let's Eat!
Ayam Penyet President

First stop, Ayam Penyet President, a halal restaurant which serves up authentic Indonesian cuisine. It was really spacious, and great for families to dine in.

We had the...

  • Smashed Fried Chicken (Ayam Penyet) ($6.80)
  • Grilled Chicken (Ayam Bakar) ($6.80)
  • Crispy Dancing Fried Fish (Ikan Joget) ($9.90)
  • Iced Mixed Fruit Dessert a la President (Es Campur) ($4.20)
  • Iced Coconut, Jackfruit, Avocado in Coconut Milk (Es Teler) ($4.00)

If there's JUST ONE thing I could take away... the Ayam Bakar! It was so succulent, so juicy. It was one of my favourite dishes sampled there. A must-have with rice!

Location: #B1-27

Shin-Sapporo Ramen
Next stop, Shin-Sapporo Ramen, the specialists in Miso ramen. A stone's throw away from Ayam Penyet President, the restaurant is another spacious, family friendly restaurant!
We had the...

  • Chuka Tofu ($4.80)
  • Haru Salad ($4.80)
  • Wakayama Tonkotsu-Shoyu Ramen ($14.80)
  • Hiyashi-Chuka Soba ($13.80)
  • Abura Soba ($14.80)
  • Chocolate Lava Cake ($8.80)
If there's JUST ONE thing I could take away... the Chocolate Lava Cake! While I did enjoy the ramen too, I seriously would come back specially for the lava cake. The ooze, the fluffiness, the intense chocolaty flavour... 'Nuff said.

Location: #B1-10/11

Sakae Sushi
Then, we scooted over to Sakae sushi, the well-known, family go-to sushi restaurant. There were so many families eating there, even though it was already 2pm!

We had the...

  • Hiroshima Oyster Shooters ($14.99/half dozen, $27.99/dozen)
  • Sakae Don ($14.99)
  • Salmon Zukushi ($26.99)
If there's JUST ONE thing I could take away... the Hiroshima Oyster Shooters! This was really fresh and lovely to have with the chilli sauce.
Chicken Up
When we got to Chicken Up, there were still many people at 3pm, eating fried chicken! We also got to meet Chef Yi (also known to the staff as the Chief Chicken Man). He was the overall in-charge of Chicken Up in Singapore, and we had a lovely chat while enjoying his food!

We had the...

  • Bulgogi Fries ($18)
  • Topokki with Cheese and Seafood ($20)
  • Watermelon Bingsu ($18)
  • Macaron ice cream ($6 each)
If there's one thing I could take away... the Bulgogi Fries! So saucy, with the right type of flavour that one would enjoy with the fries. The fries served were crispy and it was so addictive we continued munching on it despite our bursting bellies.

Marble Slab Creamery
Lovers, families, children. These are the faces of those enjoying Marble Slab's ice cream when we visited. I didn't get to try the icecream cake, but I included a photo of it cos it is simply too pretty! I'm totally gonna request that for my birthday. hahaha.

We had the...

  • Country Waffle with Green tea ice cream and Thai Milk Tea Ice cream ($13.80)
  • Chocolate & Durian Lava Cake & Ice cream ($10.80)
If there's JUST ONE thing I could take away... the Thai Milk Tea ice-cream! This flavour is the more special of their flavours, and gives a light Thai milk taste to its fans.
Penang Culture
I have one word to summarise the staff of this halal restaurant. Passionate. They are really passionate about their food offerings, and this goes all the way down to their refreshing drinks as well. I was impressed to learn that they get most of their ingredients (like their laksa noodles) from Penang directly, and try to ensure that the food in which customers enjoy are as close to the Penang version as possible.

Alright, let's put it this way. I'll probably give you another word to summarise their food:

SHIOK-NESS.

We had the...

  • Premium Crab Meat & Salted Eggs Fried Kway Teow ($14.99)
  • Penang Assam Laksa ($7.95)
  • Penang Hokkien Prawn Noodles ($8.95)
  • Bronze BBQ Platter ($18.95)
  • Penang Lor Bak ($7.95)
  • Coconut Milkshake ($6.95)
  • Rambutan Juice ($4.95)
  • Black Pepper Mantis Prawns ($10.95)
If there's JUST ONE thing I could take away... the Premium Crab Meat & Salted Eggs Fried Kway Teow! This dish has some serious wok-hei (a.k.a 'the wok's breath', and I honestly didn't expect this to be so good! The dish was so aromatic and I really enjoyed every mouthful of this. I'm not going to ramble on about this, you try for yourself!
Soup Restaurant
If you haven't already tried their winning Samsui Chicken here, you're probably living under a rock in Singapore. Well-known to most people, this heavily-chinese styled restaurant specialises in herbal soups, hence the name. Other than the deeply flavoured boiled soups, make sure you walk out trying the Samsui Chicken, as well as some other cantonese homecooked style food in here.
We had the...

  • Samsui Ginger Chicken ($16.90 (small serving)/$32.90 (big serving))
  • Earthen Bowl Tofu ($7.50)
  • Ah Kon Fan Shu Leaves (spicy, $8.90)
  • Claypot Salmon ($15.80)
  • Double Boiled Shimeji Mushroom with Chicken Soup ($8.90)
If there's JUST ONE thing I could take away... the Samsui Ginger Chicken! Juicy, tender chicken and I'm super totally in love with the ginger.
