Letao, one of my favourite cheesecakes!

Letao, one of my favourite cheesecakes!
I love LeTAO. Hailing from Hokkaido Japan, I managed to snag one of these frozen goodies at Tokyo's Narita Airport, just before I flew back to Singapore. I've been pining for this double fromage cheesecake ever since I got my first bite in South Korea's LeTAO, around the Apgujeong area.

The upper layer is creamy smooth no-bake cheesecake, and the lower layer is rich, tasty baked cheesecake. There, I had it paired with a dessert wine and it was totally fantastic and unforgettable. Definitely one of the best cheesecakes I ever had.

Once you get it from the store, the frozen version will last without a fridge for another 6-8 hours. But to be honest, I exceeded that timeline, no doubt. Reaching back to Singapore and collecting my luggage from the belt takes time too. By the time it truly reached my Singapore fridge for refreezing, it has been about 10 hours since my flight from Tokyo.

If you get these frozen goodies, you'll be able to keep this for another 5 months before it expires.

A note though: Once unfrozen, unsealed and cut, please don't refreeze or refrigerate it until the expiry date ends! In fact, once I unsealed it, took my first bite, it was gone within the next 2 days.

Quality of the frozen cheesecake is of course, not as stimulating as if you were to have it fresh. Either way, I made it a point to get the frozen ones in Narita airport before my flight. It's the next best thing after I've tried it at the South Korean branch.

But now, that it's in Singapore, I wonder how good it'll taste?

I will try it one day and let you guys know if it's comparable to the awesome one I had!

Portable wifi battle: YourWifi vs Changi Recommends!

Portable wifi battle: YourWifi vs Changi Recommends!
As you know, I've traveled to Taiwan for 8 days recently. As a heavy social media user and a crazy mobile data user (for other things), having a stable and yet limitless data connection is exceptionally important to me.

On top of that, I don't have just 1 device, but 2 devices (handphone and tablet) that I always carry along with me on travels. Friends also tap into the available device and we end up needing at least 4-5 devices that require data.

With an offer from YourWifi, who kindly sponsored me a wifi device for my Taiwan travels, I also took it upon myself to do a review between this Japan-based wifi device company and a Changi Recommends, which I thought were worth the most value in terms of both security, speed and overall features.

Some background on why I chose Changi Recommends wifi device for this trip, to battle with YourWifi device:
1. It was on promotion: $5 a day in Taiwan.
2. I have used Changi Recommends in Japan before and it was all good, with no problems establishing mobile connections.
3. I had already reserved Changi Recommends before YourWifi's kind offer came in, so I decided to go ahead with it.

Here's my review.

YourWifi (left) & Changi Recommends (right)

Connectivity
YourWifi: 5 / 5
Connection was perfect, and we were easily logged on to the device within 5 secs that wifi connection was being established. Even up in Cingjing's mountainous areas, we were able to connect to the network swiftly without issue.

Changi Recommends: 0 / 5
I was quite unhappy with Changi Recommends this time round purely because I was unable to connect to the device at all - battery went flat very quickly and even before that, the signal in Taiwan was so poor that even my whatsapp messages couldn't be sent. My friends are my witnesses, because they suffered in this situation as well - and were complaining why they had to pay for a device which did not work.

Data Limit
YourWifi: 4 / 5
Each device, depending on where you're going, will defer in terms of mobile data limit. For YourWifi, the trip to Taiwan had a mobile data limit of 20GB, regardless of number of trip days. I had streamed movies and dramas while chilling at the hotel, and even downloaded videos and uploaded images while I was on the go - 4 of us didn't even touch 20GB. Still very sufficient.

Changi Recommends: 4 / 5
Unlimited data usage - which we were unable to explore using because of technical fault with the device (battery swiftly depleting itself after 30mins of usage). 4 points given because if the device weren't faulty from time to time, we could probably be super happy using the unlimited data limit.

YourWifi's device is more compact than Changi Recommend's.

Cost
YourWifi: 4 / 5
Costs is more affordable at $4.80 per day, per device - a 20% off from $6 with the code: EOY20. However, if without promotion, the price is the same with Changi Recommends at $12 per day.

Changi Recommends: 3.5 / 5
Cost is pretty affordable if there's a promotion going on - I paid $5 per day for this device. However, if without promotion, the price is the same with YourWifi at $12 per day.

Convenience
YourWifi: 2 / 5
I collected the device about 1 business day before my departure date and also returned the device 1 business day after my arrival date. There were no extra charges will be incurred for the 2 days as rental are only based on the days of usage. But I understand that late charges will apply if you return the device to the company late - and this cannot be done at the airport conveniently, I had to head to their office at Clarke Quay's SoHo office to return and collect the device. Still, not as convenient as its competitor.

Changi Recommends: 4 / 5
Always convenient because it is located right at the airport for pickup and dropoff. But don't think that there won't be a queue for collection, and always remember to go earlier to collect your device.

Battery Usage
YourWifi: 4 / 5
Though the website says 5 hours, it depends on how you use the device and how many mobile devices are connected to it and using it. When I used YourWifi's device (without switching it off at all), the fully charged device lasted about 4 hours in total. YourWifi also kindly provided a portable charger as part of the package, just in case we might need the device and it runs out flat. FYI - I didn't actually even use the portable charger while I was out. Both devices, after it turns flat, have been charged through the night.

Changi Recommends: 0 / 5
For previous trips, Changi Recommends could usually last about 3-4 hours (based on my personal usage). For this trip, I could not tell at all - because after charging an entire night, the device had gone flat within 30 mins of testing. Very frustrating. Both devices, after it turns flat, have been charged through the night.

Verdict
YourWifi
Thanks to YourWifi, I was able to have a stable connection without issues. I read alot of reviews on their facebook page, about how their battery life was poor. But to be honest, I really did not have any issues with that and I was surprisingly pleased with the quality of the device. Even if the promotion cost might be higher than Changi Recommends, it sure beats have no connection at all.

Changi Recommends
I was disappointed with Changi Recommends this time. Previous trips were fine, and I don't think it's fair to "blame my luck" on getting a faulty device because they should have checked all their devices before passing it to another customer. Even if the battery was bad, it still couldn't explain why - even in Taipei - a proper connection to the network could not be established at all.

So this round - YourWifi is the winner.

Foodpanda Finest: Now serving up an 'atas' menu right to your doorstep
Foodpanda, one of the leading online food-ordering services in Singapore, is taking its business to new heights with its launch of an atas food delivery service.

The new service, known as Foodpanda Finest, was launched on 1 December 2016. Aiming at delivering the finest dining options in Singapore, it will offer customers an enhanced epicurean experience from the comfort of their own home.

Your special celebrations, right at home, without having to step out!

What more apt to dine in the beautiful 1919 Waterboat House, in celebration of the Foodpanda Finest launch?

We indulged in a specially curated three-course meal, complete with a champagne pairing with each course! To make things more special, we were one of the first few to try the new menu and it was soooo yummy, the wines were smooth too.

You could choose from 2 main dish options: Deconstructed turkey pie and Mushroom Ragout Spaghttini (vegetarian). I went with the spaghettini...

AND also snagged a little turkey from my friend's plate. Didn't regret it, NOPE. (haha)

I enjoyed the pinot noir, which was paired with the turkey dish. (and yes, I managed to snag some of that as well, yaahoo!)

The Buche De Noel, a praline log cake with hazelnut and popping candy, and also dessert of the night, was widely raved. It was paired with a delicious moscato (2014 Michele Chiarlo Nivole Moscato D'asti, Italy).

Note to self: MUST ORDER AGAIN.

Super enjoyed the Marina Bay view from the rooftop bar after the lovely dinner too!

Some known restaurants you can expect to order from includes:
The Study, Wine Connection, Meat Smith, Antoinette, Ishinomaki Grill & Sake, Imakatsu, Folks Collective, PAUL, Chapter 55, Long Chim at MBS, Peach Garden, Royal Plaza on Scotts, Peony Jade, Si Chuan Duo Hua, Song Of India and Jones the Grocer.

They've even partnered with some restaurant partners, such as Wine Connection, so that your curated meals include a wide selection of hand-picked spirits and quality wines!

The first 200 customers placing their first order with foodpanda finest will also receive complimentary Almond Gold chocolate bars from premium New Zealand chocolate maker, Whittaker’s.

Katfood Lip Balm: All-natural and Super Moisturising!

Katfood Lip Balm: All-natural and Super Moisturising!

Dry, cracking lips?

I think I've just found my favourite lip balm of all time.

It's Christmas soon, and I bought some of these as Christmas presents.

So... girl friends who receive this from me, you are about to receive the most moisturising lips of all time! haha.

They're having a limited edition sale for 3 of these lip balms, which means that instead of $33.70 (if you buy it individually), you're only paying an average of $8.70 per lip balm now!

Can I hear a 'YIPPIE YAY'?!

JOHN LEMON LIP BALM: $9.90
HUAT AH! LIP BALM: $11.90
99 PINK BALLOONS LIP BALM: $11.90
THE POWER PUFF LIP TRIO (Limited Edition): $25.90

Totally, no regrets after buying these awesome lippies.

The lip balms smell so good, and is extremely moisturising! The HUAT AH! lip balm is also a very cute CNY gift, if you're planning on giving any girl friend a present for the new year.

I bought this online on 9 Nov 2016, and when it was delivered to me on 15 Nov 2016, I saw its batch no. written as 14 Nov 2016!  Different lip balms have different expiry dates / batch number dates, so check it properly to ensure you're using them during their freshest period.

One reason why I love this product is also because Katfood makes these handmade goodies fresh with no chemical preservatives.

Hence the short expiry dates.

Did I also mention how these lip balms are award winning lip balms?

99 Pink Balloons Lip Balm won the Harper's BAZAAR Beauty Awards 2016 for Best Tinted Lip Balm and John Lemon Lip Balm won the Beauty Insider 2016 Beauty Awards - Best Lip Saver Readers Choice Award!

I can understand why. :) When you apply these lippies, it gives your lips a gorgeous sheen while being ultra moisturising at the same time. It also smells really yummy!

Coconut oil is one of its main ingredients. But if you're one of those who dislikes coconut oil, don't worry! The smell is not apparent at all.
